Ma Lingli
Ma Lingli (b. 1989, Chengdu, China; lives and works in Beijing, China) graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, with a Bachelor Degree in 2012. She has staged a solo exhibition, titled Webbed: Ma Lingli, at Today Art Museum in Beijing. Her works have been exhibited at the National Art Museum of China (Beijing, China), Today Art Museum (Beijing, China), Song Art Museum (Beijing, China), Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (Fukuoka, Japan), Royal Academy of Fine Arts Gallery (Kensington, UK), and Fondation Taylor (Paris, France), among other institutions. She has received the Gold Prize award for 2013 “Caesar Art Star”, Today Art Museum’s Annual Nominee Exhibition for University Students, and First Prize, The Boat of 2012 – “Aussina Cup” Annual Nomination Exhibition for Students of Contemporary Art Academies. Ma’s early works are dynamic and full of clever philosophies. In recent years, she has focused on investigating the materiality of the artwork’s substrate and the process of attaching images to such materiality, presenting it as a game of contact, entanglement or separation between the self and the external world.
